He grew up on Knickerbocker ave., towards Hancock street. By the age of 13, SPAIN started making friends in school and hung out with some MSD peeps.
Around that time he was infleunced by graffiti artists such as JA, SMITH, SANE, SHOW, SEPT, JOZ, EASY, CHEO, SMG, JEL, WEB, ROD, AUDIE,NASH, SONI, SLICK and a couple of other U5 crews as well. By 1990, he chose his tag SPAIN and wrote it here and there. Not too much into graffiti writing yet, he had done a couple of 'SPAIN' out lines and fill ins when he had the chance.
By 1995 he gave his life to Christ. He became a new man. No more smoking, drinking nor hanging out. He took church seriously so he began to preach in the streets of Bushwick, prayed for the youth and gave out track flyers on Knickerbocker ave. It seemed hard to get people into God, so he decided to make a tag name, which would make it easier to influence people towards Christ. By the summer of '95, SPAIN selected JESUS SAVES, derived from a sign he saw in church at one time and used it to mark his territory in other boroughs. This time SPAIN went all out and has stayed dedicated to the game ever since.
He would catch JESUS SAVES tags in boroughs like Brooklyn, the Bronx, Long Island, Queens and Manhattan.
He went tagging almost everyday at one point and by 2000, he was known everywhere in New York. After a couple of arrests, he decided to slow down because he felt pressured to stop once the vandal squad got a hold of his New York state ID.Now SPAIN is traveling to piece his JESUS SAVES.
So far, he done walls in Puerto Rico and Europe, and soon he has plans 2 visit Brazil and Canada to do walls and other parts of Europe continuously.He is now known world wide and he is now considered a universal graffiti artist. SPAIN still has the love, dedication and heart for graffiti and is willing to continue to paint for as long as he lives... JESUS SAVES 4 ever!!!
