Four suspects have been arrested in a graffiti spree at
Seccombe Lake Park in San Bernardino.
Members of the San Bernardino Police Department's graffiti task force
were staking out a store in downtown San Bernardino that police say
caters to the graffiti culture. They saw the four suspects, all
teenagers, leave the store with a bag of merchandise.
Police followed the teens, who went directly to Seccombe Lake Park at
Fifth Street and Sierra Way. Police say they opened the bag and divided
up markers and cans of spray paint, then walked and rode bicycles
through the park, spray painting sidewalks, a bridge and a pathway to
the island in the park's lake.
As the four started to walk off the island, they were surrounded by
task force officers, who arrested them. Police say they admitted to the
vandalism.
The suspects, ages 14, 15, 16 and 19, were arrested for investigation
of graffiti vandalism and possession of graffiti tools with intent to
vandalize. The 19-year-old, who was not identified, is also suspected of
supplying spray paint to minors.
Police say all four are known members of a tagging crew.
