MELBOURNE
will be a blank canvas for global graffiti artists when they descend on
the city in January for a $250,000 street-art festival.
The
legal Don't Ban the Can event will see graffiti artists from New York
and Tokyo come to Melbourne to showcase their work in events at suburbs
from Frankston to Footscray.
Organisers can't guarantee invitees haven't been convicted of
vandalism at home, but say this event will encourage legal work rather
than vandalism.

Frank Stoltze: Trutanich told KPCC’s "Patt Morrison"
that like gang injunctions, graffiti injunctions would allow police to
arrest members of tagging crews for associating with each other in
graffiti-ridden neighborhoods. Carmen Trutanich: These are organized groups, much
like a gang, who have an illegal purpose that could be to claim their
territory, that could be promote their name, it could be to claim
victory for a crime.
Stoltze: An American Civil Liberties Union attorney
said that ta...
It must be nice to have friends as kind and brilliant as those of Los
Angeles graffiti artist Tony Quan. And Quan must be a great guy (and
artist), to boot. Since 2003, Quan has had Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
(ALS), a disorder that renders its sufferers largely paralyzed, while
allowing them full use of their minds and eyes. As they hated to see
their comrade incapable of any longer writing his tag, TEMPTONE, they
gathered in Southern ... Continue reading ...

Mimicking an aerosol can, Paris-based designer Aïssa Logerot's Halo uses an LED light in place of a nozzle and gets its power from the same shaking action that mixes the paint.

Dick Blick Art, Montana Cans and East Bay Express hosted a great mix
of Bay Area old school graffiti legends and up and coming talent!
Estria Miyashiro, Max Ehrman Eon 75, Jared Roses, and Mel Waters all
came through and hit up giant 4-sided canvas “cubes” with their own
unique styles.
At the Montana Gold table, party people could stop by and drop their
name in our Montana “guestbooks” using Montana Hardcore markers and
Sharpies.
It's painfully early on a weekend morning in the 'hood, and Phoenix
graffiti artist DOSE and his homie FOES head south through streets
filled with homeless crack- and meth-heads. The scene looks like
something out of a Rob Zombie flick, with undead hookers and addicts plodding aimlessly from one side of the street to another.
The doors on DOSE's sleek, black sedan are locked and, anyway, it's
not as though the pair are looking to score rocks. They pass through
the area around Madison Street a...

CHICO
— Police arrested a 15-year-old boy Saturday on suspicion of resisting
arrest and prowling, but believe he may be among a group responsible
for extensive graffiti vandalism.
Several business were hit with graffiti Friday night and Saturday morning near The Esplanade and East Ninth Avenue.
One of them was an Enloe Medical Center property on The
Esplanade, where Enloe security guards said they spotted two suspects
acting suspiciously.
Earlier
this summer an edition of the SFPD's Richmond Station Newsletter was
devoted to recent graffiti-related arrests. Today I am going to reprint
portions of it and couple these portions with photos of graffiti in the
vicinities of Clement Street and Geary Boulevard taken by (because I
don't even know where the Richmond is) Flickr photographer caffeina.
