Mystery Taggers Target British Street Artist Banksy's N.Y. Works

In town to promote his new film, "Exit Through the Gift Shop," Banksy, the pseudonymous British street artist, has been leaving reminders of his visit around the city.

Spotted thus far: stenciled and painted Banksy pieces in Chinatown, the Financial District, SoHo and Dumbo.

Outrage over graffiti artist's sentence

GRAFFITI artist who decorated several of Medway's bars and clubs has been given a jail sentence for spraying trains.

T** S******, 24, is responsible for the distinctive murals at the Enigma wine bar, Rochester, and the Tap 'n' Tin, Chatham.

Last month, he was given an 18-month prison sentence for graffiti-tagging trains up and down the country, causing £50,000 of damage.

I decided to go out and take photos at 5am during the snow storm and I noticed a shadowy figure in the darkness was doing his thing. I noticed him one second and the next he was gone. A few days later I noticed what he finished what he started.

LA Photographer Cleared of Criminal Charges

LA photographer Jonas Lara had his day in court today. The criminal charges against him were dropped and the judge issued a court order for the release of his camera equipment, which had been held as evidence since his arrest on February 2, 2010.

Lara was fighting a charge of aiding and abetting two graffiti artists whose work he was documenting when the three men were arrested in South Central Los Angeles. (More on the case here.)

PITTSFIELD -- Four local men are trying to bring graffiti art out from under the bridges and into the limelight -- legally.

Solomon Stewart, 34, one of four artists in the Berkshire Graffiti Network, said the group has been doing graffiti art for more than 15 years. And earlier this week, they finished a mural on an exterior wall of the A Mart convenience store on North Street.

PHOENIX - Phoenix Police have arrested a 19-year-old man who they say is responsible for a series of graffiti vandalism in the Maryvale neighborhood.

R***** H********, 19, was arrested for criminal damage/graffiti after a lengthy investigation. The locations that were hit were: 4407 N 44th Avenue, 3839 N. 35th Avenue, 4035 N. 83rd Avenue, and 2211 N. Black Canyon Freeway.

An Australian council is rueing a decision to send street cleaners into a Melbourne lane after they painted over a priceless stencil of a rat by the celebrated British graffiti artist Banksy.

Melbourne Deputy Lord Mayor Susan Riley last week sent a clean-up team into Hosier Lane, renowned internationally for its colorful street art, to clean up garbage in the graffiti-lined passage after local residents complained.
