CRANSTON, R.I. -- An abandoned backpack, a strong odor of spray-paint vapor and a rustling in the woods led police to a suspect hiding in bushes with white spray paint on his hands.

GRAFFITI vandals from Feltham, Kingston and Twickenham who caused an estimated £270,000 worth of damage to trains have been jailed for a total of six years.

The gang of six men admitted daubing their 'tags' on more than 125 trains and tube carriages over a two-year period from February 2006 to November 2007.

NEW YORK — Japanese pop artist Yoshitomo Nara has something to smile about.

Nara was arrested in New York City in February for scrawling a smiley face with a marker on a subway station wall. He was charged with making graffiti and criminal mischief and even spent a night in jail.
