An Illinois man was charged Wednesday with defacing several
buildings in downtown St. Charles, said St. Charles police Lt. Mike
Akers.
A***** J*** M****, 28, of Swansea, Ill., faces two charges
of first-degree property damage.
He allegedly either spray
painted buildings or etched into glass windows the letters "SUR5L,"
according to police reports.
The letters appeared in 40 different
locations in November between the first and fifth blocks of North Main
Street, Akers said.
Police found M**** because he published the
same letters on a web site, Akers said.
