Authorities arrested two adults and six teenagers Tuesday morning after recovering weapons, drugs and graffiti tools in a probation sweep of known taggers in the Santa Clarita Valley, sheriff's deputies said.

"The message should be clear that if you're participating in this kind of illegal activity and marking up our schools, then there's a good chance we'll come knocking on your door," Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Darren Harris.

The 30-person team of sheriff's deputies, detectives and Los Angeles County probation officers searched 20 locations in a probation compliance search that targeted members of an active local graffiti crew, a sheriff's report said.

The team recovered a .25 caliber handgun, an illegal butterfly knife, cocaine and graffiti tools, according to the report.

The deputies arrested E******* B******, 18 of Canyon Country, on suspicion of felony vandalism and C***** C******, 18 of Newhall, on suspicion of felony possession of a counterfeit public seal, the report said. Both are being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

The team also arrested six teenagers from Newhall who are between the ages of 14 and 17, the report said. Their names were not released.

The teens face possible charges of being a minor in possession of a firearm, felony vandalism, possession of a controlled substance and probation violation, according to the report.

One 16-year-old who was on probation for robbery and car-jacking was found in violation of his probation, and another teenager had run away from a housing placement. Five of the teens were transported to Sylmar Juvenile Hall pending future court proceedings, according to the report.

B***** and C****** are each due in Santa Clarita Superior Court on Thursday.

COBRA Team detectives were continuing their investigation of local taggers, and sheriff's officials are planning future sweeps.
"We conduct several of these types of operations monthly," Harris said, "and we will continue to do so."
