On 7 June, FNCC goes to the streets with its latest exhibition called Urban Decay, the exhibition will showcast graffiti art by G*** R*** aka Real. Born in 1982 in London, Real has had a passion for graffiti all his life. He started out like most graffiti artists by spraying his tag on walls but soon got fed up with spraying on walls and cars for the sake of it.
The desire to have his works regonised prompted him to experiment with canvas, boards, vinyl and basically anything he could get his hands on. Since moving to Namibia in October 2008, Real has made his mark locally, reinventing walls, shop fronts and inside venues through his creative designs.
Urban Decay, his second exhibition in Namibia, demonstrates how graffiti blends in with harsh urban surroundings and transforms its environment. The exhibition is kindly supported by Discount Paints.  The Exhibition will open on 7 June at 18:00, the venue for this event will be Le Rendez-Vous Restaurant at the FNCC. The exhibition is expected to end on 30 June.
But FNCC will not be the only place where Real can be seen in action during the month of June, art lovers can also catch Real at the opening exhibition of Brazilian graffiti artist Mateus Dutra on 15 June at Studio 77. Real and his colleague from Brazil will give a live performance of their graffiti art.
The live graffiti performance by Real & Mateus Dutra will be held on Tuesday 15 June at Studio 77 at 17:45.
Furthermore, to compliment these activities, the FNCC Cinema will screen “Style Wars”, a documentary which was directed by Tony Silver in 1982 about the graffiti subculture of New York, on Wednesday, 9 June, 18:30, at the FNCC Cinema.
