Walk by Arlene’s Grocery on the lower east side or the corner of Mulberry and Kenmare and you’ll find one of Hanksy’s works. The graffiti artist has been posting his mash-ups of Banksy and actor Tom Hanks all over New York and is currently showing a few works at Krause Gallery. Not content to stick to just one actor, he’s branched out with works of others, including one called "Drive-Thru" featuring Ryan Golsing.

Mr. Martinez was aware that another muralist, David Choe, had also graced the company’s walls, but it was only after “Bouquet” was almost done that he found out that Mr. Choe had accepted payment for his wall work in 2005 in the form of stock options — which are worth around $200 million now. ...

Barbara Walters recently took a walk on the wild side, doing graffiti with artist David Choe.
Choe, a famous muralist, painted the walls of Facebook's office in exchange for shares of company stock. That stock is now worth $200 million. He sat down with Barbara Walters for his first interview, where he lamented about news organizations "beating down the door" to hear about his windfall.
Walters also tried her hand at Choe's craft. He ...

Everyone wants to chime in on Google’s privacy polices including, it seems, graffiti artists. In recent weeks, an unflattering version of the company logo has appeared in New York, depicting the double vowel in the company’s name as a pair of surveillance cameras.
Here’s a photo of the logo that I snapped upon encountering it on the Pulaski bridge, a span that connects the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens:

Get paid to vandalize! (Getty Images)
Remember the good old days, when Mayor Giuliani would have you arrested just for keeping spray paint cans in your backpack? When “tagging” buildings and underpasses were used to connote different gang areas? Of course, galleries have been promoting graffiti as “outsider art” since the 80s, but it really took Banksy and Bomb the System to turn elevate the expression of juvenile delinquents into haute couture.

As a rookie cop in Washington Heights, Steven Weinberg patrolled the streets at night, responding to domestic-violence calls and drug crimes, learning the ropes of the NYPD.
It was the mid-1990s, the height of Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s war on quality-of-life crimes, when squeegee men and graffiti vandals were viewed as symbols of the city’s decline.
But Weinberg never bought into that philosophy. To the young cop, graffiti was not a public nuisance; it was art.
The Gainesville Police Department arrested a suspect in connection with a recent rash of graffiti writing, also known as tagging.
