An iconic hub of graffiti art in Long Island City may soon be razed for luxury high rises, but one elected official believes it is far too early for panic.

His work was noticed by artsy folks in Silver Lake and downtown Los Angeles. In 2006, he made his professional debut when an art show in San Francisco included his work. A gallery in Long Beach followed suit. After that, his canvases were exhibited in Los Angeles, Ventura, Philadelphia, Berlin and Bucharest. There were group shows and solo shows.

Councilmember Peter F. Vallone Jr. commends the 114th precinct for arresting three graffiti vandals wanted for over 50 tags in Astoria.

A***** M******, 21, and M**** A**********, 20, were caught while tagging a McDonald’s restaurant at 22-50 31st St., across the from Vallone’s office on March 5, at 8:30 p.m.

With the future of a Queens landmark is uncertain, it's becoming even more of an attraction.

Dozens gathered Saturday at the 5Pointz building in Long Island City, which has been a public art gallery for graffiti for more than eight years.

But the building's owner, Jerry Wolkoff, wants to redevelop the land.

With more than 300 different works on the building, artists say it provides a space for graffiti like no other.

A "GRAFFITI king" has been charged with over 100 offences, including defiling Brisbane trains during the floods.

A special police taskforce caught the 20-year-old at Milton Rd this month and found incriminating images on his camera.

SANTA CRUZ -- An 18-year-old responsible for more than 160 graffiti tags in Santa Cruz County in recent months was sentenced to 270 days in jail and ordered to pay more than $20,000 in restitution to the victims, a Santa Cruz County Superior judge ruled Wednesday.

A graffiti artist has found himself getting tagged - a 17-year-old has been arrested for allegedly spray painting several structures in and around Winnipeg.

Officers conducted a search warrant Tuesday at the south St. Vital home of the 17-year-old, who is facing six counts of mischief under $5,000.

LOS ANGELES—Authorities are creating a database that will be used to store photographs of graffiti vandalism, enabling investigators to track hot spots where such activity is on the rise, they announced Friday.

The city currently spends $10 million a year cleaning up graffiti, and last year painted over 31 million square feet of vandalized surfaces.

Clean-up crews are being equipped with smart phones and told they must photograph any graffiti they are going to remove.

Police have charged 89 people during a two-week crackdown on graffiti, vandalism and associated antisocial behaviour.

The youths and adults arrested were facing a total of 301 charges after the first phase of Operation Eraser, a year-long crackdown on vandalism which costs the community about $25 million a year to clean up and fix.

Det-Sen. Sgt Brad Royce said 60 of those accused of damaging buses and trains were under 18, with six of them facing a total of 145 criminal damage charges.
